Investigation on Dynamic Responses’ Characteristics and Fatigue Damage Assessment for Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Structures

Dynamic response analysis and fatigue damage assessment of floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) structures are carried out in this paper with a focus on the statistical characteristics dynamic responses under wind–wave excitation. A proper spectral model is proposed to obtain better estimation. The OC3 spar (Hywind) 5 MW baseline developed by American National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) applied as target model, fully coupled calculated time domain. non-Gaussian nature revealed based study properties key components (the tower base fairlead mooring line). Dirlik distribution proved be best probability function (PDF) that can fit feature among several PDFs. corresponding models estimate line following procedure frequency domain, which results compared from time-domain method. indicate for FOWTs, provide more accurate assessments damage.
